The Ancient Mesoamerican Calendar system was a beautiful complex system that continues to date to be one of the most accurate calendrical systems in the world. Even more accurate than the Gregorian Calendar we use in the west today.
Since it was so well synchronized with the cycles of nature, its year began in the spring, in March and accounted for the extra six hours it takes for the Earth to complete its cycle around the Earth. At the end of each year there were 5 Special Days called the Nemontemi Days, in which fasting, seclusion and deep reflection/introspection were encouraged to close the old cycle and begin a new one. There were different levels and types of fasting and different activities one could engage in depending on the essence of the year.

Join us in this lecture with Akaxe Yotzin to learn how to prepare for the shift from this past year, Yei Akatl Xihuitl to the next one, Nahui Tekpatl Xihuitl. We will learn what major natural and universal forces & essences will be present during the 5 Nemontemi Days leading up to the next year and the best ways to consciously reflect upon the last year and prepare for the next one. A love & gratitude offering of $10 will be greatly appreciated to support the work we do in the space.

When: Sun Feb 28 2pm
