Temachtiani Akaxe Yotzin has been teaching since 1999. In fact, this year will be the 20th year anniversary from when his Maestro, Maestro Arturo
Meza Gutierrez, gave him the responsibilty to begin sharing what he knew.
He then began sharing all around the world, wherever the knowledge was needed & where different groups, organizations & universities would host lectures & workshops, helping with the development of many groups & kalpullis until he met his duality, Clarissa Gonzalez in Chicago 8 years ago.
After they met, she helped him organize & structure all of the complex & diverse work he was doing, helped him utilize the internet both to offer classes to his international students as well as share on social media, the concept of Machtia Toltekatl was born (see inasca.org) and they began building up with the powerful & committed community in Chicago.
Then 4 1/2 years ago they took the first step towards their Institute and opened the doors of Mahtinauhkalli, which would become a hub for local community organizers, social workers, youth workers, educators, birthworkers, students & leaders to take classes, courses, attend ceremonies, ground themselves through ancestral knowledge, continue serving their communities & get to know the inner depths of their Tezkatlipokas.
The 4 pillars of courses that Temachtiani Akaxe teaches that allow students to do this are Minnaliztli (archery), Yaotilliztli (ancestral warrior discipline), Tonalpohualli (study of the symbols, metalanguage & calendar system) & Mitotilliztli (danza Mazehual & huehuetl). There are also other courses that allow us to explore the different aspects of the ancestral knowledge that Akaxe was able to learn from his different teachers, elders & communities. (more on that in future posts)
We have a grand vision to continue building so that we can dignify our ancestors, the knowledge & our own communities. It won't be an easy path but with the principles of our ancestral knowledge si se puede & we would love for you to join us on this path.
