As many of our students could attest, the Tonalpohualli (ancient mesoamerican calendar system) is the foundation of all of our ancestor's knowledge, weaving into Danza, Health Systems, the Arts, Yaotilliztli (nativev mexican martial arts), and daily life. Our Ancestors built their cities, organized their community events, and even scheduled conception based on the Tonalpohualli. 

In fact, as we have learned from Joven Maestro Akaxe Yotzin and Maestro Arturo Meza Gutierrez, the Tonalpohualli is much more than a calendar system, it is a MetaLanguage that can be used to understand the human psyche, the cycles of Nature, and the Universe.
