Beginners Tonalpohualli Class

Ancient Mesoamerican societies spent countless generations studying the precise cycles of Nature and the Universe. They observed the cycles of the stars and planets and studied the influence these cycles had on the Universe, Nature, and Humans. Through their impeccable sciences they developed the most accurate calendar system of any other society to date.  

In this online course we will learn the basic principles, structure and math of the Tonalpohualli. We will focusing on the Twenty Potentials of the Day Symbols, we will learn the impact of the Universal, Natural & Psychological Qualities of each.

Classes will be in 3 different languages on different days. Schedule is as follows:

 Sociedades precolombinas se dedicaron por generaciones a el estudio de los ciclos en el universo, en la naturaleza, y en los seres humanos. A través de sus observaciones y documentaciones, pudieron desarrollar una sistema calendárica impresionante, preciso y complejo.

En este curso virtual aprenderemos la estructura básica de este sistema calendárica, Tonalpohualli. En este curso nos enfocaremos en los 20 Potenciales, o como se llaman comúnmente, los 20 días. Al aprender estos símbolos,‪ entenderemos cómo conllevan principios universales, naturales y psicológicos. 

El curso será impartido en 3 diferentes idiomas. Itinerario es el siguiente:  ​

Temachtiani Akaxe Yotzin will be in all of the classes. Temachtiani Akaxe Yotzin estará presente durante todas las clases.

Akaxe Yotzin comes from a long line of the ancient native traditions of mesoamerica. He is a "Young Master" of the Toltekatl sciences, disciplines, rituals and philosophies, a title granted to him in the ancient tradition by his Masters & Elders after more than 20 years of commitment and service to his communities. He has been studying the Toltekatl knowleding since 1986 and traveling & teaching since 1999. He has dedicated students in many parts of the world: from Austria & Hungary to Mexico City to Minnesota. He currently resides in Chicago, as the head temachtiani of Mahtinauhkalli, an institute where he teaches native knowledge & disciplines to the community.
 

Akaxe Yotzin proviene de una larga línea de antiguas tradiciones nativas de Mesoamérica. El "Joven Maestro", título que le fue otorgado en la antigua tradición por parte de sus Maestros y Ancianos. Ha dedicado más de 20 años de compromiso y servicio a diferentes comunidades sobre las ciencias, disciplinas, rituales y filosofías Toltekatl. Comenzó a estudiar el conocimiento Toltekatl desde 1986, el cual ha compartido desde 1999 en muchas partes del mundo: desde Austria y Hungría hasta la Ciudad de México y Minnesota. Actualmente reside en Chicago, y es temachtiani ( maestro) de Mahtinauhkalli, instituto dedicado a la enseñanza del conocimiento y disciplinas nativas a la comunidad.

Ikiltezilani will be in the Spanish classes on Tuesdays. Ikiltezilani estará presente durante las clases en Espanol los Martes. 

Ikiltezilani ha estado estudiando disciplinas ancestrales dentro de Mahtinauhkalli desde el 2012 - estas incluyen Tonalpohualli, Mitotilliztli, Yaotilliztli, y Minalliztli. A estas se les conoce como el estudio de la cuenta del tiempo, la actividad del danzante, del guerrero, y del arquero. Aparte de estas, también ha tomado varios cursos a corto plazo, como Kalpullismo (organización ancestral política y social) y Autosanamiento. Recientemente se le otorgó la responsabilidad de compartir danza para principiantes y esta vez está entusiasmada por compartir tonalpohualli como una de las herramientas de auto-mejoramiento. Ikiltezi sigue aprendiendo día a día, pero por ahora se respalda en lo que ha podido aprender en Mahtinauhkalli como a través de su entrenamiento de posgrado en sociología.
 
Ikiltezilani has been learning ancestral disciplines through Mahtinauhkalli since 2012 - these include Tonalpohualli, Mitotilliztli, Yaotilliztli, and Minalliztli. These are better known as the study of the count of time, as well as discipline of the dancer, the warrior, and the archer. In addition to these, she has also partaken in short-term courses such as Kalpullismo (ancestral social and political organization), as well as Self-Healing. She was recently given the responsibility of sharing dance to a beginner's circle and is now enthused to share tonalpohualli as a tool of self-improvement. Ikiltezi continues to learn, though for the time being she draws from what she has been able to learn at Mahtinauhkalli and through her graduate training in sociology.

Zitlaltokatzin will be in the classes Spanglish classes on Fridays. Zitlaltokatzin estará presente durante las clases en Spanglish los viernes. 

Zitlaltokatzin is an assistant principal of a Chicago Public School. Zitlaltokatzin conoce y aprende de Temachtiani Akaxe desde el 2008. The classes Citlaltokatzin currently takes are Macehualliztli/Mitotilliztli, Tonalpohualli, Ancestra Toltekatl Wisdom, Tlapohualliztli, Ancestral Chants and Minalliztli.

Ixpahuatzin will be in the English classes on Saturdays. Ixpahuatzin estará presente durante las clases en Ingles los Sabados. 

Ixpahuatzin has been studying & applying the Toltekatl ancestral knowledge since 2011 through courses such as Tonalpohualli, Yaotilliztli, Mitotilliztli, Kalpulismo, Minalliztli, Tlapohualliztli, Ancestral Chants, Self-Healing, Synchronizing with the Cycles of Nature, 

Ixpahuatzin has been working in mental health, youth development, leadership development and community organizing for the past 15 years. Her passion for self healing, decolonizing, reclaiming feminine & ancestral knowledge & synchronizing with the cycles of the Earth & Moon led her to deeply study various spiritual & philosophical paths until she committed herself to the ancestral mesoamerican Toltekayotl.

She is a certified herbalist at Blood Moon Healing and cofounder of Machtia Toltekatl  & Mahtinauhkalli.

When she isnt working at Machtia Toltekatl or Blood Moon Healing she is holding womyn’s circles, herbalism study groups, developing & executing curriculum for New Leaders Council and raising her 2 yr old with her duality, Akaxe
